Arlington, VA – National Security Institute Cyber & Tech Center (CTC) Senior Fellow, Andrew McClure, has been appointed as the Director of the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) at the Department of Energy.
As Director of this program, McClure will lead the Department of Energy’s efforts to protect the nation’s energy infrastructure from cyber and physical threats, coordinate the federal government’s response to energy-related emergencies and disasters, and work with industry and other agencies to strengthen the security and resilience of U.S. energy delivery systems.
McClure brings extensive experience at the intersection of cybersecurity investment, national security, and technology strategy. As former Managing Director at Forgepoint Capital, a board member across leading cybersecurity companies, and a veteran U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer specializing in signals intelligence and cyber operations, he has contributed to NSI’s mission of finding real-world solutions to the biggest challenges facing our nation by driving efforts to enhance investments in cybersecurity and national security technologies in an increasingly contested digital environment.

Jaffer, Founder & Executive Director of the National Security Institute at GMU’s Scalia Law School. “Andrew’s experience as a Marine signals intelligence and cyber operations officer as well as his role having led key cyber investments and incubating multiple companies at one of our nation’s leading cyber venture capital firms, Forgepoint Capital, will serve him well in his new role at the Department of Energy,” said Jaffer.
