Steve Block, who joined Amazon in October 2015, leads Amazon Web Service’s (AWS) public policy efforts in the US federal space. Steve and his team are focused on National Security policy, federal acquisition and procurement, cybersecurity, and emerging technology. Before joining Amazon, Steve spent 15 years working for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) in various leadership roles. In his last position with the agency, Steve served as Chief of NGA’s global counterterrorism division. In this position, he led NGA’s network analysis and targeting efforts, directly supporting US counterterrorism operational elements. Steve also served as the Deputy Director of NGA’s Congressional Office, leading NGA’s legislative engagement strategy.  Steve began his career as an intelligence officer with NGA in May 2000 and also was a management consultant with IBM.
