AI and National Security: Safeguarding Tomorrow – A Roundtable Series

NSI CTC’s AI and National Security program consists of five off-the-record lunch sessions that will take place from May through September 2024.  This program focuses on topics that explore how AI is both shaping U.S. national security challenges and creating opportunities to strengthen U.S. global leadership, including:

  • Tuesday, May 28, 12 – 1 PM ET: The Role of Industry: How the Private Sector is Shaping the Future of AI
  • Tuesday, June 18, 12 – 1 PM ET: National Security Applications of Artificial Intelligence: U.S. and Adversary Efforts
  • Thursday, July 11, 12 – 1 PM ET: Spurring Innovation While Maintaining Public Trust: The Balancing Act of AI Policies and Regulation
  • Tuesday, July 30, 12 – 1 PM ET: Ensuring American AI Dominance through Tomorrow’s Workforce: STEM, Immigration, and Innovation

The program will culminate with a wargame simulation that pits the minds of our Congressional staffer participants, acting as the U.S. National Security Council, against an AI-powered China red-team, both seeking to react to and resolve an unfolding crisis in the Taiwan Straits.

This program is capped at 25 participants and open to current Capitol Hill staff only.  Attendance for all program sessions is expected; all sessions will be held on Capitol Hill.  Exact time and date of sessions will be announced shortly.

The NSI CTC aims to cultivate constructive conversations around the opportunities that artificial intelligence presents, not only for the advancement of American economic and national security interests but also for the collective benefit of society worldwide.  Join us as we navigate the frontier of AI-driven innovation and chart a course towards a safer and more secure future.

Note: While preference will be given to Congressional staffers serving in senior-level positions (i.e., Chiefs of Staff, Legislative Directors, National Security Advisors, etc.) and AI and Tech Fellows, we encourage all interested Congressional staffers to fill out the series interest form. We will follow up to confirm participation in the event series.
