Joshua C. Huminski is the Senior Vice President for National Security and Intelligence Programs at the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress. In this capacity, he manages the Center’s research on Euro-Atlantic security, trans-Atlantic relations, U.S.-Ukraine and U.S.-Russia relations, and other policy initiatives.

As part of his research efforts, Huminski chairs the Center’s high-profile, off-the-record discussions with senior officials from the government, military, intelligence community, diplomatic corps, and academia. He also created and hosts the Center’s policy literary salon, bringing together leading authors and writers to discuss their books on key national security and foreign policy matters.

He is a frequent commentator on national security, intelligence policy, and emerging technology issues. His research and writing frequently appear in Breaking Defense, the Hill, Defense One, and the Cipher Brief, and has written for the National Defense University. He also writes for the London-based Council on Geostrategy. He is also a non-resident fellow with the Irregular Warfare Initiative.

He currently publishes a biweekly book review column for the Diplomatic Courier and contributes to reviews for George Mason University’s National Security Institute (where he is a non-resident senior fellow), and the Wavell Room in the United Kingdom, among other publications.

Originally from Connecticut, he received his graduate degree (with Merit) in War Studies from King’s College London after completing a dissertation on energy security and international relations. He earned his undergraduate honors degree from the University of Connecticut in political science following the completion of a thesis project on U.S. civil-military relations.
