Andrea Dean is a software development engineer at Amazon Go, a new kind of store that uses AI and sensor fusion to replace traditional checkout. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Lewis & Clark College, where she was a resident advisor, a member of the Pamplin Society, Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Mu Epsilon, and president of the Student Alumni Association. She also studied at AIT Budapest, researched machine learning methods for computer go, interned at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and was a hackNY fellow (supporting a computer vision initiative for startup Dia & Co). She advocates for increased diversity and equity in tech, acting as a mentor to and speaking at events for young women interested in tech careers.
