Andrew McAllister recently earned his PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan. His PhD focused on using high-performance computing to understand how to improve the efficiency of LED materials. Throughout his PhD, Andrew was also focused on learning how to communicate his technical work to various audiences. He has given talks in local bars, written for various outlets, and participates in various local engagement organizations. He helped organize the first ComSciCon Michigan conference in 2018 and was the senior editor of the Students of Applied Physics project. He is currently teaching at Concordia University while freelance writing, and will be facilitating the 2019 Washtenaw County Consensus Conference. He plans on bringing his expertise in science and communication to help inform the complex issues facing the nation.
