Ben Janis will be graduating Tufts University this spring with a major in computer science and a minor in economics. Ben’s interests and research are in developing secure systems through the confluence of technical and policy solutions. He is currently working on a thesis looking at securing financial transactions over second-generation phone networks with a focus on the M-PESA system. Ben is the co-founder of JumboSec, a student organization dedicated to augmenting Tufts’ cybersecurity curriculum, improving Tufts’ cybersecurity health, and promoting Tufts’ cybersecurity program the the greater community. Ben will be joining the MITRE Corporation as an Associate Embedded Security Engineer, but has plans to return to graduate school to obtain a masters degree in public policy with the intent to work in tech policy.
