Geoff Brown

Geoff Brown is CEO of the intelligence technology company Silobreaker, which builds tools that cut through complexity, producing decision-grade insight so global organizations can see clearly, act with confidence, and influence outcomes ahead of impact.

Geoff’s position builds upon senior executive roles in ransomware response services firm Arete IR and commercial threat intelligence company Recorded Future (now part of Mastercard), and his overall career includes 15 years of public service at U.S. Federal and Local levels.

Between 2016 and 2022, Geoff was Chief Information Security Officer for the City of New York, a position focused on cybersecurity and aggregate information risk across all 100+ NYC departments and agencies. In July 2017, Mayor de Blasio established New York City Cyber Command, an agency founded and led by Geoff, reporting to City Hall, and charged with consolidating and leading the City’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy, inclusive of building NYC Cyber Command itself, and through this new agency setting Citywide cybersecurity policies; directing response to cyber incidents; rationalizing the City’s cybersecurity spend and cyber defense technology footprint, and advising City Hall, agencies and departments on the City’s overall cyber defense. Geoff also created the City’s first public-facing cybersecurity initiative, called NYC Secure, wherein the City brought enterprise cybersecurity capabilities to everyday New Yorkers in a privacy respecting way, and was a founder of NYC Cyber Critical Services & Infrastructure, which aimed towards operational collaboration amongst key NYC focused companies.

Geoff has contributed to academic and non-profit work in the cybersecurity and intelligence spaces throughout his career, including at MIIS, NYU, and the Aspen Institute, and has previous experiences in financial services enterprise cybersecurity and risk programs, notably with JPMorgan Chase and with First Data (now FiServ).

Geoff began his national security career as a research assistant with the 9/11 Commission, and with the Henry L. Stimson Center.
