John Poulson joined NSI in April 2021 having most recently served at the Department of the Treasury as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for International Affairs. In that role, he assisted the Under Secretary in overseeing the daily operations of the agency’s international economics division. In a previous role at Treasury, he served in the Office of the Executive Secretary, where he was responsible for preparing the Secretary’s daily briefing book, as well as briefing materials for the Secretary’s international travel.

Prior to joining the Treasury Department, John served as an aide to Congressman Mike Gallagher (WI-8), where he covered issues related to cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and intelligence, among other matters. He also worked on Rep. Gallagher’s first Congressional campaign in 2016.
