Lily Fu Claffee

Lily Fu Claffee is the current general counsel for Fox News. Before joining Fox News, she was the former senior vice president, chief legal officer, and general counsel of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center. She led all of the Chamber’s legal operations, including representing the organization in legal disputes, and heads the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, an incorporated public policy law firm affiliated with the Chamber.

Immediately prior to joining the Chamber, Claffee was a partner in the international law firm Jones Day, where she represented corporations in federal litigation, regulatory, and national security matters.

Claffee formerly served as general counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce, overseeing the work of more than 400 lawyers in 14 offices. She also served as deputy general counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she was awarded the Treasury Medal for service, and as deputy associate attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she oversaw several litigating divisions, including the Antitrust and Civil Divisions.

Before entering government service, Claffee was a partner in the international law firm Mayer Brown LLP. While at Mayer Brown, she represented clients in antitrust, class action, and appellate litigation matters and advised on internal corporate and government investigations.

Claffee received her undergraduate degree in 1990 from the University of Wisconsin and her law degree in 1993 from the University of Minnesota, where she served as managing editor of the Minnesota Law Review. She clerked for Judge Michael S. Kanne of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
