Micah Johnson

Micah Johnson, former communications director for U.S. Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is a co-founder of Bridge Public Affairs. She serves as the firm’s chief operating officer and senior vice president, managing day-to-day operations and leading a growing communications practice.

Johnson specializes in strategic and crisis communications, media relations, digital advocacy, and successfully developing and managing complex, multi-platform public affairs initiatives. Clients benefit significantly from her established, working relationships with major media outlets and key reporters in Tennessee, Washington, across the country, and around the world.

As a member of Corker’s senior management team and among his longest serving aides, Johnson was the senator’s chief spokeswoman and senior communications strategist – overseeing all state, national and international media activities for his Senate office and the foreign relations committee majority office. She played an instrumental role in developing and implementing Corker’s wide-ranging international and domestic policy agenda during his last eight years in office and managed the meteoric rise in his national and global profile.

On a policy level, Johnson was particularly involved in advancing Corker’s economic development, housing finance, and foreign policy initiatives. She is specifically credited with playing a leading role in the successful 2014 effort to ensure Volkswagen added a second assembly line at its Chattanooga facility, and developing and passing legislation to launch the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery – a signature Corker initiative to help eliminate modern slavery and human trafficking worldwide.

In Washington, Johnson earned a reputation among her peers as one of the most respected communicators on Capitol Hill. She was elected for three consecutive years – one as vice-president – to serve on the executive board of the Senate Press Secretaries Association, the largest bipartisan professional organization for current and former Senate communicators.

A Sevier County native, Johnson graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in marketing and international business.

Since graduation, she has served her alma mater in various capacities, including two terms on the alumni board of directors and two terms as president of the Young Alumni Council. In 2017, the university presented her with the Alumni Promise Award, which recognizes alumni no older than 40 who have demonstrated distinctive achievement in a career, civic involvement, or both.

Johnson recently relocated to Chattanooga, where she is active in the community and was recently selected to participate in the inaugural class of Leadership Tennessee NEXT – a new state-wide program launched by Leadership Tennessee.
