What’s Next for Security Clearance Reform? Event RSVP

 

The National Security Institute is excited to partner with INSA on Tuesday, March 1, from 7:45-9:30 a.m. at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, in Washington, DC, for a powerful panel discussion focused on next steps for security clearance reform.

Moderated by INSA Chair and NSI Advisory Board member Tish Long, discussion topics will include progress on the Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiative, implementation of continuous evaluation/continuous vetting, steps to improve personnel mobility, and the rollout of a new, consolidated personnel vetting information system. Panelists include: Senator Mark Warner (D-VA); Jason Miller, Deputy Director for Management, Office of Management and Budget; Stu Shea, President and CEO, Peraton; and Carey Shea, President and CEO, Parsons Corporation. This event is open to the press.

The Speakers

 

Sen. Mark Warner was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2008 and reelected to a third term in November 2020. He serves on the Senate Finance, Banking, Budget, and Rules Committees as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence, where he is the Chairman. During his time in the Senate, Sen. Warner has established himself as a bipartisan leader who works across the aisle to ensure Virginians can count on their government when they need it the most.

 

 

 

 

Jason Miller is the Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) where he serves as the Federal Government’s chief operating officer. In this role, he coordinates Government-wide management initiatives to protect, strengthen, and empower the Federal workforce, and ensure a more equitable, effective, and accountable Federal Government that delivers results for all Americans. Toward these goals, Mr. Miller leads the development and implementation of the President’s Management Agenda as Chair of the President’s Management Council.

 

 

 

As Chief Executive Officer, Stu Shea leads the company’s strategic direction. His vision and guidance drive Peraton’s performance and culture. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Leidos. Mr. Shea is a founder of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and the highly acclaimed GEOINT Symposium. He was a member of the Director of National Intelligence’s Senior Advisory Group (SAG) and in 2016 he was presented the Intelligence Community Seal Medallion by Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper, Jr. for his service.

 

 

 

 

As the president and chief executive officer of Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN), Carey Smith is responsible for the company’s strategy, growth, business execution, and global operations. Parsons is headquartered in Centreville, VA, operates globally in 26 countries with ~16,000 employees, and creates the future of national security and global infrastructure to deliver a better world. Ms. Smith joined Parsons in 2016 as president of the Federal Solutions business. She was promoted to chief operating officer in 2018, and president and chief operating officer in 2019.

 

 

 

 

About the Moderator

Tish Long is an NSI Advisory Board member, and she became the fifth chair of the INSA Board of Directors in January 2016 and was unanimously re-elected to a third term in December 2021. Previously, she served as director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) from October 2010 to October 2014, becoming the first woman to lead a major U.S. intelligence agency. Ms. Long earned a Bachelor of Science in Electric Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Catholic University of America.
